Döntéshozatali statisztikai módszer, amely során kiválasztják azon korlátozott számú tényezőket, amelyeknek szignifikáns kihatása van az eredményre. A minőségfejlesztés tekintetében a problémák nagy többségét (80%) csupán néhány kulcsfontosságú ok (20%) okozza.
